History

The wood elves are the inhabitants of the forest athel loren the forest was one of the biggest forest in the old world before the dwarfs invaded the high elves that lived were Bretonia was sooner to come. Most of the elves fled to Uthulan but some of the elves decided to go into the forest and stay there and protect the rest of the forest.  That's how the elves got in the forests and there is allot of other stories which ill add later.

Tactics

General tactics

You should always use your excellent archers to soften up your enemy before you charge them. As an example you have 5 Wardancers and your enemy has cornered you with 30 goblins, dont just charge them without doing some thing else first, charge them in the flank shoot at them use the woven mist/shadows coil to keep them up until someone can help them up

Characters

Wood Elf General

The General is good riding a monster ig. a dragon and these are the magic items i normally give him: Bow of Loren, Armor of Protection, and Potion of Strength. that gives him a good armor save and the ability to shoot 7 S4 arrows per turn and 7 S7! combined with potion of strength.

Battle Standard of Athel loren
Personally I dont use this guy at all, maybee because its not a model for it jet but i donnt play all that much Campains so I really dont need him and the wood elves already have a really good Leadreship value so its hard to brake the first time.
Heroes
Personaly I dont use this guys either

Regiments

Archers/Scouts/Way watchers

The wood elves has an excellent shooting range (and the rule for armor piercing , -1 save hit modifier) so you should use it to itsmaximum capacity. I personally don't use that many archers but rather go for way watchers and scouts. the Bs of 5 really makes a  the big difference and there great for assassination of alone standing mages just deploy behind the character and charge!! The traps aren't really that good but it makes the opponent think twice before he/she charges. but at a 16/18 points each model really makes toy think twice doesn't it.

Treemen
The treemen are the WE's hardest hitting unit (except special characters) and they are regiment so they don't chew your character allowance up completely. The T of 7 is really great cause it makes the model almost uninvernebale to normal units so you can charge almost anything on the battle field whit out getting hurt too badly. But the bad things is watch out for FIRE, that you can only have one per 1000 points of army, and the 280 points.
Dryads
Dryads are the  most variable unit in the WE army list they can be  hard hitting (with the oak aspect) and they  are really  great for attacking units without champions and with just one attack because of the aspect that fortifies the first attack of their opponents. They are really cool to paint cause of the surface that really works with washes and dry brushing.
Glade guards
The Glade guards are probably the only unit in the WE army list that gain rank bonus they aren't all that great but then againthey aren't meant to be the best unit in the game. Use them as defense of mages, archers, and so on.
Glade riders
These are light cavalry and they really aren't going to all that much damage. but they works to help someone if their in trouble cause they can get there fast. Give them lances so they are at least S5 when they charge. The Feigned flight is good against frenzy units just move within range and use feigned flight until they are so long away so they don't matter.
Chariots
I'm really looking forward to when this model comes out in the shop, but for now they are only available from mail order, you can see it in the wood elves legends catalogue (£1). 76 points is really cheap when you think of the damage it can do. Try to include two or three in your army.
Wardancers
They are really great with the shadows coil in the front and glade chariots/treemen/dragon in the rear/flanks that will break most units, and if not use the storm of blades to kill a character inside the unit. The woven Mist is really useful against low Ld units like Beastmen and Orcs and Goblins. The whirling death is good if you think you can kill everyone in one round.
Warhawk riders
The Warhawk riders are the only flying cavalry in the game. They are great for assassination or destroying warmachines. They can co up it characters and  great eagles and may bee the most powerful unit in the battle.
